This product is a necklace with a glass bottle pendant, containing foraminifera star sand, collected in Okinawa, Japan. A Taketomi-jima folktale describes these star-shaped foraminifera tests as children of the Polar star & Southern Cross, who were devoured & spat out again by a gargantuan serpent that served the Seven Dragon God of the Sea. 
 
In reality, these are tests of microscopic marine organisms known as foraminifera.
